Manjarabad Fort |
The fort is located 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) away from the Sakaleshpura town to its south west, which is on the right bank of the Hemavati River, 23 miles (37 km) from Hassan on the National Highway no 48 that runs from Bangalore to Mangalore. Sakaleshpura is the headquarters of Manjiraba taluk and is a municipality.
Since the fort is located on a hill at an elevation of 988 metres (3,241 ft), it gives a clear and commanding view of the surroundings. On a clear day, even the Arabian Sea can also be seen from the fort. |
Green Route Trek |
The Railway Segment from Sakleshpur to Kukke Subramanya road junction is known as green route trek and very popular amongst the trekkers in Western Ghats. The length of the trek is some 52 km which comprises 58 tunnels, 109 bridges and about 25 waterfalls. The railway track was closed down in 1996 for converting it to broad gauge from meter gauge. Goods trains started running on the track since 2005 and operations for passenger trains resumed in 2008. Most of trekkers starts from Sakleshpur and continues till Yedakumari which is some 22 km distance. Green route trek offers absolute wilderness to the nature lovers. Length of the tunnels varies from few meters to 600 meters and these tunnel are unexplored eco regions with high possibility of poisons snakes, insects. Bridges are breath taking and a challenge to those who suffers from acrophobia.

Jenukallu Gudda (jenukal Gudda) which is located in Sakleshpur Taluk but we can travel from Mudigere Taluk also, yes road condition is far better when it is compared to Mudigere and it is near too, we have started all the way from Hassan District and we have reached sakleshpur around 7:40 AM it is 40 KM away from district place, we had our breakfast at Srinivasa Hotel near NH road, later we took our way to Hanubalu Road, which is on the way to Mangalore road (NH 75), While passing on NH 75 near Anemahal, you will notice a small board on right side stating Hanubal road (You Could ask localities for more accurately to route) , take right turn from their, then the golden journey begins, you will enjoy the Natures best place where the green stands as long as mountains.

Devrunda Temple |
Devrunda Prasanna Rameshwara Temple is a beautiful representation of the fine detailing and craftsmanship that was the hallmark of the Hoysala architecture. Constructed between the 11th and 14th centuries AD, the temple gives the destination its name. The temple dates from the period when the Hoysala empire was at its peak. Located at the entrance of the town, the temple is a remnant of the Hoysala Empire that ruled this region between the 11th and 14th centuries AD. This place is known as Dakshina Kashi, here you can find Rameshwara, Veerabhadreshwara, Bahireshwara, Parvati and Ganapati. This temple has been built in over night and it is said to be over 500 years old.ngundi.
